Information gathered is utilized for On-Line Memorials on this web site as well as for PowerPoint presentations and in traveling binders which feature printed slides of individual veterans. Sometime in the future we intend to publish a book of local heroes from the Berlin Area School District. The traveling binders are on display at functions we attend and the PowerPoint presentation has appeared on Cable 19 over Memorial Day, Veterans Day and is viewed in several locations on Memorial Day and at any other event we are invited to.

Veteran Eligibility:   Berlin area service men and women from Civil War veterans to present service members, who have honorably served our country in every way. Be it in peacetime or war, including all branches of the service such as Army, Navy, Marines, Air Force, Coast Guard, Merchant Marines and their affiliated reserve units.

Data Collection: The committee needs your help in locating and documenting all veterans of the Berlin area!

    • What information does the foundation need?
    • (1) Proof of honorable service.  If you do not have proof of       honorable service, please contact your local Veterans
            Service Officer:

      • If your county isn’t listed, please check: http://dva.state.wi.us/CVSO.asp .  On the left of the screen there is a list of other sites. Click on Veterans Service Offices. A map of the state will appear along with an alphabet. Click on a letter and the counties starting with that letter will appear and so will their contact information.
    • (2) A picture of the veteran in uniform & a more recent photo
             of the veteran. 
      • We can also take a photo of the veteran when you bring the information in.
      • We can also crop the veteran out of any group picture of your choice.

      • If you have more info on the veteran or if you don’t have enough room on this form, we encourage you to send us any additional information. All veterans played a most important part in history and their information is valuable for educational purposes as well as for historical documentation and for genealogy research by future generations.
